White Wine
Leanora's Meadowsweet (NV) - A wonderful combination of strawberry and apple flavors in a light refreshing sweet white wine. Serve this wine with dessert, especially a strawberry shortcake, and experience the room fill with the aroma of fresh strawberries. Your guests will be amazed. This wine is unfiltered and unfined and as such should be refrigerated and not left on a wine rack at room temperature. Drink within two to four months of purchase. $9.00/750 ml bottle.
Sweet Apple
(NV) - Made from Virginia cider house apples. Light, fruity, and slightly sweet. The apple juice comes from a cider house in Amhurst county. We purchase the juice as the apples are being pressed at harvest time, begin the fermentation process at the cider house and transport it back to our winery to finish the process. The apples are a wonderful blend of such great apples as pipin, fugi, yellow delicious and more. Note - This wine is unfiltered and unfined and as such should be refrigerated and not left on a wine rack at room temperature. Drink within two to four months of purchase. $9.00/750 ml bottle.
Dry Apple (NV) - A more bold, much less sweet version of our standard apple wine. This apple is made from 100% Virginia apples. Use this wine to deglaze or poach during cooking. Great with a sauté of apples over braised pork chops. We often make a reduction from this at home. $6.00/750 ml bottle.
Creekside Chardonnay ("Summer Chardonnay") - Light chardonnay aged without oak. Definitely a great choice for sipping on the porch. Purchase a bottle to enjoy on our porch and we will serve it in a nice chilled ice bucket. Peach notes and a crisp clear color. This is probably un-like any chardonnay you are used to. It is slightly sweet and has none of the bitter after-taste of many chardonnays. We often refer to this as wine similar to chardonnays produced in the northern Burgundy region known as Chablis except our i a touch sweeter due to our more southern vineyards. $10.00/750 ml bottle.
Chardonnay - Mid-weight straw colored chardonnay aged with French oak. $12.00/750 ml bottle.
Sauvignon Blanc - One of two parent grapes of the noble Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon. This light crisp off-dry white wine has light grassy notes, some say they taste asparagus or gooseberries in this wine. This wine pairs wonderfully with Asian cuisine and also with East Indian foods. $10.00/750 ml bottle.
Rose' Wine
Vin Rose' - California style rose' made from Cabernet Franc. This is a light off-dry rose' reminiscent of popular white zinfandel rose wines. The grapes are not crushed but rather pressed for the juice alone and therefore the juice is not tainted with the red color found only in the skins. Look for hints of raspberry and cherry. The winemaker thinks of this a grown up White Zin. $10.00/750 ml bottle.
ORANGE Wine
Muscat- Estate grown 100% golden muscato grapes made with the ancient orange wine method that imparts it's distinctive orange color. This wine is not made with oranges but with white grapes. It has a very notable dried apricot taste. Aged both on the lees and on the pomace for a long time before bottling. A sweet dessert style wine. You will be hard pressed to find an orange wine made in the US. Typical examples are more common in Italy. $12.00/387 ml bottle.
Red Wine
Apple Concord - One of our most favorite wines made from Estate grown Concord grapes with a touch of Apple. Note - This wine is unfiltered and unfined and as such should be refrigerated and not left on a wine rack at room temperature. Drink within two to four months of purchase. $9.00/750 ml bottle.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 - A first release made from 100% noble Bordeaux grapes. This is a wine for that great NY center cut or one of those Thick t-bones that are becoming so popular again. $18.00/750 ml bottle.
Dalhgren's Raid Red - Nice light sweet red priced for fun and made with a blend of estate grown Byrd Cellars grapes. Be sure to read the back label and the story of how a few bottles of wine saved an attack on Richmond (during the Civil War) by cavalry troops of the Northern Aggression!! All in fun! After all it was 150 years ago!! Get the official Virginia Wine passport free with each bottle purchased. Passports may not be available at all wine festivals. $15.00/750 ml bottle.
Norton (NV) - This 100% grape varietal is also the state grape of both Missouri and Arkansas and should be the state grape of Virginia! We grow 4 acres of Norton grapevines following organic methodologies and use no pesticides or artificial fertilizers. It has been produced in an off-dry fashion. Loaded with flavors of black cherry. $12.00/750 ml bottle
Norton Reserve (NV) - Organically grown, aged with American medium toasted new oak to round out the already superb flavors of our James River grape - Norton. Limited production. $15.00/750 ml bottle
Petit Verdot 2010 - Two dozen wineries in Virginia are offering this wonderful Bordeaux grape in varietal form. Not found in the French Bordeaux region, this grape is growing happily in Virginia but remains difficult to work in the winery. Try it now. $18.00/750 ml bottle (limited availability)
Raven Red - A light dry red blend much like a Pinot Noir. Made from 2 distinct Cabernet Sauvignon wines gently blended with a touch of Chambourcin. $12.00/750 ml bottle
Syrah 2009 - The smoky cigar-like nose of this Rhone Valley Syrah will elicit visions of relaxing in an easy chair - sipping away an evening of pleasure. No need to pair this fine wine with food. It stands nicely by itself. $18.00/750 ml bottle (limited availability)
Merlot 2010 - Forget the harshness of most Merlot varietals. This Merlot will definitely surprise you with its smooth yet peppery taste. $18.00/750 ml bottle
